The Congress of Mayors of France ended last Thursday with Michel Barnier's speech. Mayors and intermunicipalities gathered in Paris, Porte de Versailles, for the 106th edition of this great mass of mayors of France. At the heart of the debates, the savings requested from local authorities.
The 2025 budget plans to ask municipalities, departments and regions for 5 billion euros in savings. It would ultimately be between 2 and 3 billion, according to the Hautes-Alpes senator, Jean-Michel Arnaud, president of the Association of French Mayors of Hautes-Alpes. But the fight continues, according to him, to confirm this possibility.
“We have a little more knowledge about what can happen: the TVAA compensation fund has been withdrawn, there will not a priori be a reduction in the operating allocation of the communities. And we must also keep an eye on the investment allocation and green funds. » J.-M. Arnaud
During this congress, the president of the association of mayors of France David Lisnard appointed Arnaud Murgia to the national mountain council.
An “outdated” regulatory and budgetary framework for the mountains of tomorrow
The mayor of Briançon is therefore now part of this consultative body, chaired by the Prime Minister. It brings together, among other parliamentarians, representatives of local authorities and unions. This place of consultation and privileged expression for the development of the mountain and its planning, Arnaud Murgia intends to take advantage of it to develop the Mountain law on a particular point.
“It is the issue of natural risks that catches my attention: after what happened at La Bérarde, we can clearly see that the regulatory and budgetary framework is no longer adapted to the situation in our mountain areas. We need to anticipate and have models. » A. Murgia
Arnaud Murgia who was received by Catherine Vautrin, Minister of Partnership with the Territories, with Camille Galtier. At the Congress of Mayors of France, the mayor of Manosque also raised the issue of the municipal budget. Camille Galtier also focused on the production of green energy in the lower Alpine region and security by meeting the director general of the National Police, Louis Laugier, and the security advisor of the Elysée, Violaine Demaret, former prefect in the lower Alpine territory.
