Ubisoft et Evil Empire announced that The Rogue Prince of Persia benefits from its most significant update since its early access release on Steam and the GeForce Now service in May 2024.
The “Second Chapter” update, available for free, introduces numerous new features and improvements based on player feedback, doubling the content of the game since its initial launch.
Players will experience an updated art direction, with a modified color palette, improvements, more details, to truly bring the warring city of Ctesiphon to life. They will also notice a significant transformation of the Prince, whose colors change from purple to a tone that not only corresponds more to the new artistic direction but also to his genre in the Prince of Persia license in general. However, this is not the end of the “Purple Prince” since this initial version of the character will be part of the playable character skins in an upcoming update. With the “The Second Chapter” update, players will be able to explore all-new biomes, the Mines and the Artisan Quarter, face new bosses and experience a whole new story arc. Act 1 has been largely refined. In addition, new enemies appear along with quality of life improvements for the player such as difficulty rebalancing, multiple save slots, automatic collection of gold and soul ashes and much more. .
With the “The Second Chapter” update now available, The Rogue Prince of Persia includes 9 different biomes, 20 main weapons, 6 powerful tools, 4 boss fights, 24 secondary challenges as well as 50 Medallions for endless combinations suitable for everyone styles of play.
This update marks an important milestone where all the elements of roguelite are present: game loop, metaprogression, configurations, difficulty modifiers, and more. Development will continue in 2025, promising even more content and improvements until the final launch of the game. Until then, players can expect the arrival of additional content: new levels, bosses, weapons, enemies, improvements as well as additions based on community feedback.
The game's soundtrack has also been improved, with 4 new hits from Persian-American electronic Music producer and recording artist ASADI. The soundtrack of The Rogue Prince of Persia is a fusion of traditional and modern sounds with rhythms coinciding with the Prince's movements.
