A fight and then they leave. This Saturday, before the meeting between Saint-Étienne and Montpellier, the 300 Hérault supporters who were to occupy the visitors' parking lot were led towards the exit of the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium even before the start of the match.
According to Didier Bigard, journalist for Le Progrès, Montpellier supporters were sent back to their buses by prefectural decision. They would have participated in a fight before this meeting which looked like a match of fear for both teams.
Indeed, Montpellier, last team in the standings, travels to the sixteenth and play-off Stéphanois with 10 points in 11 days. A victory for Jean-Louis Gasset's men in Saint-Etienne would allow them to come back on par with the Greens.
The pre-match of the meeting between Sainté and Montpellier was also marked by supporters' tribute to Rachid Mekhloufi, club legend and symbol of Algerian independence in the 1950s.
