L’Association for the Defense of the Environment of the Pays de Sillé (ADEPS) has just lost its case against the company Parc Eolien Crissé/Vernie (Sarthe), a subsidiary of EDF Renewables France. She could appeal.

“We must not hide it. We have just suffered a new setback against the company Parc éolien de Crissé, a subsidiary of EDF Renouvelables France. Obviously, I am disappointed like all the 50 members of our association,” says Xavier Noury, president of the Association for the Defense of the Environment of the Pays de Sillé (ADEPS), since 2020.

In this fight of David against Goliath, “we presented valid arguments based on the expertise of LPO (Animal Protection League) of Sarthe. For his part, the promoter, who does not have the same financial means as us, relied on a study carried out at his request and which had its effects. Faced with the arguments of both parties, each time, the court of appeal leaned in favor of the project leader by minimizing the impacts which are important in our eyes. It is a judgment on unequal grounds. It’s the triumph of money! “.

ADEPS could appeal

Losing the new battle results in a fine of 1,500 euros that ADEPS will pay by contributing. “The main thing is not there. After having suffered this hard blow, we will check with our lawyer to find out if we should appeal the Court's decision or not, confides Xavier Noury. There is perhaps a loophole that would allow us to prolong the fight. And if it did not exist, then we will continue the fight by being present on the ground. We do not let anything pass concerning noise pollution, respecting the height of wind turbines and any other harmful impact on the tranquility of residents and human and animal health. »

The territory of the 4CPS threatened?

Xavier Noury ​​is worried about the territory of the 4CPS in general. “If the project were to materialize in Crissé (2 wind turbines) and Vernie (1), plus the 7 wind turbines already installed in Neuvillais and Conlie and other projects in preparation in these two municipalities, then in Mézières, we will meet again to 16 units in this sector. Other projects are located between Conlie, Cures, Bernay and Domfront-en-Champagne and Tennie. We are talking about several 250 meter wind turbines*. That's too much for just one territory, right? “.

The 4CPS produces 80% of its consumption

As a reminder, the territory of the Community of Communes of Champagne Conlinoise and Pays de Sillé has been engaged for several years in a virtuous approach by supporting in particular methanization and photovoltaic projects, as well as the construction of wind turbines. To date, it produces 80% of its electricity consumption. She is an excellent student in this subject. It has largely played its part in the energy transition. She has the right to politely say, thank you for looking elsewhere.
