Several thousand people attended the funeral wake of Jean-Paul Albin (Friday November 22) at the sports hall in Mansarde au Robert, his hometown.
Between 3 and 11 p.m. fans, artistic, political, civil society and anonymous figures paraded in front of the remains of the beloved singer of the La Perfacta orchestra.
By chance of the calendar, Paulo's vigil took place on Saint Cecilia's Day, patron saint of musicians, composers, luthiers, singers and poets.
Several speeches marked the evening, including those close to the artist.
Within the family, we admired his talent and were always his first fans. His joy of living was contagious (…). He was an example for his many nieces and nephews, godchildren and cousins (…). He was a great man.

Former mayor Alfred Monthieux paid tribute to the memory of his “childhood friend” recalling the years of a shared boarding house in Sainte-Thérèse, in Fort-de-France, when they were both high school students.
Paulo Albin has also been a municipal councilor since the mandate of the late Édouard Delépine (also former mayor of Robert). The current head of the council, Farell François-Augrin, for his part described the singer as “phenomenon”.
We will have to honor Paulo through a space in the city. Farell François-Augrin

The singer and author Jean-Paul Paulo Albin is part of the group of young talents at Robert, with the bassist Tayalay, the trumpeter Ti Gus Nodin then another singer, Jojo Lise, who joined for a while in 1967-68, the young TIPICO group created in Trinidad two years earlier by Raoul Charron and Marie-Jo Prajet. They asked me to play the piano, before I got caught up in other activities. From that moment, I was convinced of his future success, of his qualities not only as a musician but as a person capable of bringing together energies with the love of the public that he wanted to constantly satisfy.
