A few days ago, PUMA unveiled the new jerseys for its African teams under contract. From Morocco to Ghana, via the Ivory Coast, Senegal and Egypt, the feline brand has struck a major blow with jerseys that are much more elaborate than those it could offer in the past. For each selection, we find designs that are inspired by local cultures.
Pre-matches as elaborate as the jerseys
But if the football jersey remains a major element in the brands' distribution strategy today, the pre-match jersey continues to take up more and more space. A product which is less promoted by players, of course, but which is also less expensive and on which brands have almost no regulatory limits, unlike jerseys.
Continuing with the jerseys, PUMA has therefore imagined five pre-matches for its five African selections. Like the official jerseys, they will be used during the period 2024-2026, and in particular during the next African Cup of Nations, which will take place between December 2025 and January 2026.
For each of these nations, PUMA has therefore imagined a completely unique design. If the Moroccan outfit appears as the most sober on the front, all the specificity of the outfit occurs on the back, with large Arabic writing. Sold at €60 instead of the €95 for official jerseys, these pre-match jerseys are a clever way to wear the colors of the national team without breaking the bank.
