An Altiligère woman won the sum of 23 million euros in the Loto, allowing her to buy three items in the shops of Puy-en-Velay.
Last Saturday; Huguettes Gruton won the incredible sum of 23 million euros. This ponote could finally make her dream come true: buying items in the shopping streets of Puy-en-Velay, a rare privilege. In half a day, she went to Place du Plot and the surrounding area to do some shopping. “I bought ten slices of ham at Les Halles, a Renaissance-style scarf and a Christmas wax candle. I spent everything but I am proud of my purchases,” she confides, beaming. The locals looked admiringly at this crazy succession of purchases, before buying an apple at the market for €74. This anecdote therefore illustrates that it is still possible to have fun at a lower cost in the streets of Puy.
Constant inflation
Huguette did well to please herself quickly. Due to inflation in the capital of Velay, it will soon no longer be possible to buy an item in a small store. Experts estimate that soon only personalities like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos or Elon Munsk will have the sufficient budget to afford a dry sausage or a pair of socks. In the meantime, the locals are trying to take advantage. And when prices are too expensive, we try our luck in the industrial zone. “Now, a lot of people go to Auchan. There, a kilo of pasta is only €86, it's still a bargain,” concludes a resident, proud to show that his city remains affordable in places.
