The meeting scheduled for this Sunday between LOSC and Stade Rennais will be a special match for Bruno Genesio, who is returning to his former team for the first time.
A year ago, on November 17, 2023, Bruno Genesio left Brittany suddenly to everyone's surprise. In post since March 2021, the French technician decided, “by mutual agreement” with the club, to put an end to his Breton adventure. He was, during this period, crowned best coach in France in 2021-2022, and left, despite his hasty departure, excellent memories with local supporters.
Now at the head of LOSC, the club he joined in June to succeed Paulo Fonseca, Bruno Genesio will return to Stade Rennais, which he welcomes on the pitch of the Decathlon Arena – Stade Pierre Mauroy, for the first time this Sunday, November 24 (3 p.m.). This opposition allowed him to momentarily go back: “I want to remember all the good times I had in Rennes. I think these are, in my coaching career, the two seasons in which I have perhaps had the most pleasure in leading a team. She was inclined towards the offensive, scored a lot of goals, created a lot of play and shared emotions with everyone at the club, all the supporters. This is especially what I want to remember. It’s a time that left its mark on me with significant encounters and a team that really suits me”he spoke with some emotion this Friday at a press conference.
A few hours later, on Europe 1 radio, he admitted not really enjoying these duels: “These are matches that I don’t like. We played Lyon some time ago and now we are going to play Rennes. These are matches that I don't likehe insisted. We were talking earlier about affect and humanity, I have so many memories. Lyon because it's a big part of my life, I did everything there from the age of 5 to almost 50, and I lived for three and a half years in Rennes, working alongside extraordinary people in sports, but also around the athlete.
In those moments, I can't wait for the match to end, with three points because I'm competitive and I want to win them no matter what, but I always can't wait for the match to end. These are matches that I don't like« he confided, aware that he is about to experience, between Lille celebrations and bitter duels on the green rectangle, a weekend full of emotions.
