The building was for sale, confirmed Donald Robichaud, a real estate agent with Royal LePage. He added that the building and land will have to be reassessed following this fire, but that the sale will go ahead.

Another fire in Bathurst, police questioning

The same day, at the same time, a major fire broke out in a building on Saint-Pierre Avenue in Bathurst. It was quickly brought under control by around fifty firefighters, but the building was largely destroyed. It included housing, a garage, a nightclub and the biker group’s premises. Darksiders.

Despite attempts by Radio-Canada Acadie, it was not possible to obtain information from the Bathurst Police Force on this possible link between the two fires. An investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office is underway.

The GRC confirms that these are two separate biker groups and suggests that it is undesirable for any community to see these groups settling on their territory.

These are not individuals who just want to get together and ride motorcycles, say, on Sunday. These are individuals who associate with these types of organizations and these organizations have been charged with drug and violence-related offenses in the past.
