The drama unfolded late in the morning. A salesman aged around thirty was killed on Wednesday November 20 by a gun while he was canvassing in a house in Chevelot, a town in the Vosges department, we learned from the prosecutor of the Republic of Epinal.
A suspect, a septuagenarian, identified as the shooter, was taken into custody for murder.
“Nice as anything”
The victim was canvassing in several houses on the same street in the city center of this small town of 1,300 inhabitants, Frédéric Nahon explained to AFP, confirming information from the daily Vosges Matin.
Late Wednesday morning, he appeared in front of a house inhabited by two brothers, in their seventies. One of them, the youngest, fatally shot him while shooting him.
The open murder investigation was entrusted to the Remiremont research brigade. According to Vosges Matin, the victim would have gone to this address several times to canvass in recent days.
“They are two old boys who are as nice as anything. All the people from Chavelot know them and I can't imagine anyone who could say bad things about them,” a local resident told the daily.
Several hunting weapons were also found at the suspect's home, according to the newspaper.
