It is today that the person responsible for an attempted murder of police officer Catherine Giroux that occurred on August 18, 2021 on Highway 73 in Sainte-Marie, Marco Rodrigue, must receive his sentence.
Judge Louis Dionne will deliver his verdict this afternoon at the Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce courthouse.
The Crown is asking for 15 to 18 years in prison while the Defense has suggested a sentence of 9 years.
The minimum sentence required by law is four years.
As Marco Rodrigue has been detained since the start of the proceedings, an increased period of 4 years, 10 months and a few days of detention will be considered to have already been served at the time of his sentence.
