The Atlas U20 Lion Cubs have taken a big step towards qualifying for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (U20 CAN) 2024. After their draw (1-1) against Algeria during the UNAF U20 tournament, the Moroccan players find themselves at the head of the North zone, synonymous with qualification for the CAN.
The meeting, played in an electric atmosphere, saw the two teams neutralize each other. Despite Moroccan domination and numerous scoring opportunities, both teams lacked realism in front of the opposing goal. Algeria, which had taken the advantage, saw Morocco equalize at the end of the second half. The Fennecs even had the opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot, but the Moroccan goalkeeper preserved the score.

Before this draw, Mohamed Ouahbi’s protégés had a faultless run. They won their first two matches against Egypt (host country) and Tunisia by the same score of 2-1. A final match against Libya on November 23 could validate their ticket for the U20 CAN. The Atlas Lion Cubs therefore have their destiny in their hands.
