For this last hearing of the November session of the Dordogne Assize Court, a man is on trial for attempted murder and rape in the middle of the street. The hearing is held behind closed doors.

In September 2021, a 35-year-old woman was walking home from work at a hotel in downtown Périgueux after midnight when a man violently attacked her, punching her and hitting her head. to the ground while strangling her, before raping her. Shocked, she managed to return home and warn her partner, before being taken to the emergency room and filing a complaint. His potential attacker was arrested a few days later in the Saint-Georges district. He is being tried this week by the Dordogne Assize Court for attempted murder and rape.

On Wednesday, November 20, the hearing began at 9 a.m. before the victim's lawyer, Me Nathalie Landon, requested a closed session at the request of her client. On this day, the accused was questioned about his personality, before the personality investigator, the psychiatrist and psychologist experts were heard. The thirty-year-old, who admitted the acts of violence and rape, but not the attempted murder, rejected many of the facts about his drug and alcohol consumption.

Already convicted of drugs

He has already been convicted, notably after the interception of a package of 500 grams of cocaine by the customs services, or even after having punctured the tires of around twenty cars in revenge because his neighbors had denounced a drug trafficking.

For Me Nathalie Landon, this hearing was difficult for her client “but it will be even more difficult tomorrow [NDLR : jeudi] when it is time to discuss the facts.” The forensic pathologist and police officers will also be heard on Thursday, as will the victim and her companion. The pleadings of Me Nathalie Landon are also scheduled for Thursday, before the indictment of the attorney general, then the pleadings of the defense, represented by Me William Graire, and finally the deliberations on Friday.
