Last Saturday, during a Rugby match between Tours and Angers (Maine-et-Loire) in the U18 category, two Angers players were allegedly victims of racist insults. As reported by our colleagues from the Actu.fr site, this shocking incident has attracted attention and sanctions could be considered.
On his Instagram account, one of the two players concerned shared his experience, explaining that he and his teammate had been treated as “shit little black people”. Visibly upset, he did not hide his sadness at this unacceptable behavior, stressing that such comments only further tarnish the already weakened image of this sport.
Upcoming sanctions?
The young player also explains that he asked for concrete measures to be put in place so that such situations, which can seriously affect the victims, never happen again.
For its part, the Angers rugby club sent a letter to its counterpart in Tours so that this particularly serious situation is taken very seriously. He demands that sanctions be given to the player who uttered these racist insults. The French Rugby Federation (FFR) has indicated that it is currently studying this matter.
