On October 20, 2024 in the Lombardy district, in Hauts de Rouen, Héloïse, 17, was found dead in her ex-boyfriend's apartment, murdered. Héloïse would be the 111th victim of femicide for the year 2024.

A tribute was paid to the young girl during a white march organized by her family this Friday, November 15, and supported by the municipality.

Laura Slimani, deputy mayor of Rouen, in charge of local and participatory democracy, gender equality, disability and the fight against discrimination, is an elected official very committed to violence against women. It seemed obvious and natural to him to support this grieving family.

I was in touch with Héloïse's mother, I got involved with her, and we supported the white march. I learned about the problem of financing the concession which remained the responsibility of the mother. So I asked the mayor's office to take care of this part of the young girl's burial.“, explains Laura Slimani.

A deliberation must therefore be voted on this Thursday, November 21 during the municipal council, to financially take charge of a concession for fifteen years at the West Cemetery, in Rouen. The family will only have to pay a symbolic euro. The cost of a concession is all the more important when you lose a child at a young age. “The idea was to facilitate the family's procedures” confides the chosen one.

It's already so painful what this family and this mother are going through. In these moments, it's good to be supported, to be by their side. It is also the role of a community

Municipalities are not in the habit of covering the concessions of their citizens, or of contributing financially to funeral costs. But the murder of Héloïse, a young girl only 17 years old, was particularly moving. “Fortunately these tragedies are quite rare” recalls Laura Slimani, who has tirelessly supported this modest family since the young girl's dramatic death.

The burial could be taken care of by the department of Seine-Maritime.

A fund has also been set up to help the family.
