A hitchhiker died on Tuesday November 19, 2024 after being hit by a car in the town of Pouxeux (Vosges). The tragedy took place around 8:50 p.m.
In a press release, the Epinal public prosecutor's office specifies that the victim is a woman aged around forty. She was hitchhiking with two men along the RN 57 expressway in the Épinal-Remiremont direction when she was hit by the car. The two friends present, direct witnesses of the accident, immediately called emergency services, but the SMUR doctor who quickly arrived on the scene could only note the death.
The motorist did not stop. An investigation has been opened into charges of manslaughter by the driver of a hit-and-run vehicle. It is entrusted to the Remiremont research brigade.
