African Ballon d’Or: Despite Syli’s defeat, Guirassy can still keep hope

Among the five finalists for the African Golden Ball designated by the Confederation of African (CAF), Guinean striker Sehrou Guirassy can still harbor hopes, despite the elimination of the national Syli from CAN 2025. According to the sports consultant Thierno Saidou Diakité, Guirassy has a solid chance against his competitors.

Sehrou Guirassy could have scored this Tuesday against Tanzania to better position himself against other favorites such as the Ivorian Simon Adingra, the Nigerian Ademola Lookman and the Moroccan Achraf Hakimi.

“If he had scored at least one goal, today he would have had a certain advantage. Unfortunately, he was unable to score,” laments Thierno Saidou Diakité, while specifying that Guirassy remains the top scorer in the CAN qualifiers, which keeps him among the five favorites for the Golden Ball with five (5) achievements.

“He remains the top scorer in the qualifiers, especially since his direct opponent Lookman did not play yesterday against Rwanda. In any case, he still has a strong chance of winning the Ballon d’Or,” he stressed.
