Vancouver Canucks forward JT Miller is taking an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons, general manager Patrik Allvin announced Tuesday.
“Right now, our priority is making sure JT knows the entire organization is here to support him,” Allvin said in a statement. “Out of respect for JT, we will not make any further comments on this matter.”
Miller, 31, has six goals and 10 assists in 17 games with the Canucks since the start of the 2024-25 season, his sixth year in Vancouver.
He returns from a record season in 2023-24, where he scored 37 goals and 66 assists for a total of 103 points in 81 games, being selected for the first time in his career to the All-Star game.
Miller is entering the second year of his seven-year, $56 million contract, with an average annual value of $8 million. The Canucks acquired Miller from the Tampa Lightning in the 2019 draft in exchange for goaltender Marek Mazanec, a 2019 third-round pick and a conditional 2020 first-round pick.
Selected 15th overall by the Rangers in the 2011 draft, Miller accumulated 244 goals and 411 assists in 816 regular season games with the Rangers, Lightning and Canucks.
