Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday that Israel would give a five million dollar bounty to anyone who brings back a hostage held in Gaza.
“Anyone who brings a hostage back to us will find a safe way out for them and their family.” of Gaza, Mr. Netanyahu said in a video filmed inside the Gaza Strip, according to a statement from his office.
“We will also give a reward of five million dollars for each hostage”he added. Wearing a military helmet and bulletproof vest, Mr. Netanyahu spoke with his back to the sea in the Netzarim corridor, controlled by the Israeli army in the north of the Gaza Strip. “Anyone who dares to harm our hostages is considered dead. We will pursue you and we will catch you”he said.
Accompanied by his Defense Minister, Israel Katz, the Israeli Prime Minister reaffirmed that one of the objectives of the war is that “Hamas does not govern in Gaza.” “We are also making efforts to locate the hostages and bring them back. We are not giving up on it. We will continue to do this until we have found them all: the living and the dead.”he added.
During the unprecedented attack by commandos of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on October 7, 2023, 251 people were kidnapped on Israeli soil. A total of 97 hostages remain in Gaza, 34 of whom were declared dead by the army.
