Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) are investigating a fire of suspicious origin which broke out around 3 a.m. on the night of Monday to Tuesday, in Rimouski.

Firefighters fought and then brought under control a blaze outside a house near the intersection of rue Germain Ouest and rue des Bouleaux, in the Sacré-Cœur district.

The origin of the fire is considered suspicious. A forensic identification technician went to the site to secure the perimeter and try to understand the causes of the fire.

The spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, Frédéric Deshaies, specifies that for the moment, no one has been apprehended.

He did not want to comment for the moment on the hypotheses which would explain the circumstances of the fire.
