The Toyota team gave news this Tuesday evening of Gapençais Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais, involved in an accident this morning during reconnaissance of the Rally of Poland. They are forced to withdraw from the 7th round of the WRC world championship, which will start on Thursday, even if their state of health is reassuring.

Ogier remains under medical observation

“Seb and Vincent were involved in a road accident during reconnaissance for the Polish Rally and were taken for medical checksindicated the Toyota Gazoo Racing team in a press release, specifying that there is no “no serious injuries”. All those involved had scans which revealed no serious injuries. If Landais is released from the hospital, Ogier will remain under medical observation all night and will not be able to participate in the event.

According to the Polish police, the accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. this Tuesday morning near Goldap (north-east) and involved two cars: in one were Ogier (40 years old, eight-time world champion) and Landais , in the other, “a 69-year-old driver and his 67-year-old passenger”Tomasz Markowski, spokesperson for the local police, told AFP.

“They were all injured, complained of pain and were therefore all taken to hospital by medical decision”he added, specifying that the police were investigating the circumstances of the accident.
