The mayor of Flers-en-Escrebieux issued an extraordinary municipal decree to authorize Santa Claus to fly over his town on the night of December 24 to 25. A fine is provided for those who prevent the sled from being properly parked.

“On the night of Tuesday 24 to Wednesday 25 December 2024, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Santa Claus is authorized to fly freely over the airspace over the entire territory of the commune of Flers-en-Escrebieux in order to to carry out the distribution of Christmas gifts”, stipulates the order received by the Douai sub-prefecture on November 15. One condition is still included: “that the children are well asleep”.
In the event that Santa Claus had decided to be eco-friendly for his 2024 world tour, it is specified that for his hybrid sleigh “the city's charging stations would be at his disposal”.
Beware of annoying parking
To make his work easier, he is authorized to park anywhere: in parking lots, in the streets, and obviously on roofs. But be careful to park carefully that night. The decree provides that “any obstructive parking of vehicles which prevents its passage and the delivery of gifts may be punished by a fixed fine of 35 euros”.
Residents are also invited to bring “a few carrots for the reindeer, a small glass of milk and biscuits or fruit for Santa and his elves”. And to ensure that Christmas goes smoothly, the town hall has also declared personæ non gratæ.
“Any naughty or evil person such as the “Grinch”, “Père Fouettard” or even “Scrooge” are prohibited from staying in the territory of Flers-en-Escrebieux”, she specifies.
In the event of disagreement, it is provided that “no appeal may be filed against this order before an administrative court or any other magical jurisdiction”.
