The manga Cat's Eyes by Tsukasa Hojo, released 40 years ago in Japan, arrived in France on November 11 with a live action version on TF1, starring Constance Labbé, Camille Lou and Claire Romain.
Constance Labbé, who plays Sylia, underwent intensive training for this role.
The actress notably filmed the scene of an impressive fall of 40 meters.
40 years after its release in Japan, Tsukasa Hojo's manga, Cat's Eyes, has just arrived in France. Since Monday, November 11, viewers can discover the adventures of the three sisters Sylia, Tam and Alex Chamade on TF1. A “live action” version in which we find the actresses Constance Labbé, Camille Lou and Claire Romain.
Constance Labbé, the interpreter of the character of Sylia, gave us an interview where she talks about the filming, but also about her character. Moreover, in order to be able to play her correctly, the 36-year-old actress followed special training. “In addition to my daily sports routine, running or cycling, I worked with my coach and friend Anthony Fischer. We did some muscle strengthening to prevent me from getting hurt.”she explains.
Constance Labbé: “There are real moments of panic”
But that's not all. Sylia, one of the managers of a café, and also secretly an art thief. To provide the action scenes, Constance Labbé did the stunts herself. “There were real moments of panic”she slips, before adding: “I remember a scene where my character does a fall of 40 meters“. Impressive, right?
And to have a nice result in the image, everything goes through “a regulator that manages the ropes”. “He has to stop me one meter from the ground. There is no other option than to trust him and that is difficult for me. We put our lives in our hands. You have to let go. I hadn't measured that before filming.”declares the actress.
An intense connection between the actresses
In addition to the stunt scenes, Constance Labbé established a real connection with Camille Lou and Claire Romain. “From the first day, we had intense scenes”she specifies. “Very quickly, I found Camille super invested and a perfectionist. She has a sense of detail and consistency. She is admirable and I understand that she tours so much, that directors like working with her. She has a passion for this profession.”
As for Claire Romain, Constance Labbé “admire” particularly its “spontaneity” on the set. “She has a freedom of play that impresses me. She’s a great partner, attentive and caring“she concludes. Qualities that we can perhaps see on screen!
