The logistical system dispatched on the highest instructions of King Mohammed VI to support relief efforts in the areas affected by the recent floods which affected the south-east of Spain, “was a very great contribution” to restoring the damaged infrastructure, said the director of the Valencia Hospital, Alfredo Ribelles Villalba.

Praising the competence, professionalism and expertise of the Moroccan teams, Mr. Ribelles described the action of these teams as “indispensable” to accelerate the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure.

This Moroccan support demonstrates a strong commitment to international solidarity, added the Spanish official, who spoke in a statement to MAP during the reception, Saturday evening in Valencia, of a second convoy Moroccan composed of 13 trucks, including 12 pump cars and a repair and tool truck.

To enable the Moroccan teams to accomplish their mission in optimal conditions, specially designed facilities have been made available to them, assured the director of the Valencia Hospital, who was accompanied by the general director of Spanish civil protection, Virginia Barcones, Consul General of Morocco in Valencia, Said Drissi El Bouzaidi, and other local officials.

This new deployment also includes 34 operators with cutting-edge technical equipment to mark the terrain for rescuers and facilitate access to disaster areas.

Following the floods which ravaged several regions of Spain, His Majesty King Mohammed VI had given His Very High Instructions to the Minister of the Interior to speak by telephone with his Spanish counterpart and inform him of the full provision of Morocco to dispatch relief teams and provide all the necessary assistance to Spain to deal with this natural disaster.

A first exceptional Moroccan convoy, mobilizing 24 pumper trucks and 70 operators, arrived in Spain on Wednesday to support relief efforts and come to the aid of the Valencia region, seriously affected by storm Dana.
