Announced at the public meeting on November 13, the work to requalify the streets of Île d'Or and Nouvelle will begin on November 18, 2024. This project aims to strengthen travel safety while enhancing the heritage framework of this sector. This work is part of a global approach to modernizing and securing public spaces.
Main planned developments
• New Street:
One-way passage (from Rue de Rouen to Rue Choudieu).
Creation of sidewalks complying with accessibility standards.
Establishment of a 30 km/h zone with marked contraflow cycles.
• Rue de l’Île d’Or:
Maintaining the current direction of traffic, with adoption of the same principles (zone 30 and contraflow cycle).
• Heritage enhancement:
Sidewalks made of light concrete
Planting trees.
• Increased parking capacity:
Gain of 21 new spaces on the two streets.
Work progress
• Phase 1 – Resumption of the rainwater network:
From approximately November 18 to 28, on both streets.
No impact expected on resident access or parking.
• Phase 2 – Redevelopment of Rue de l’Île d’Or:
From the end of November to the end of January 2025 (subject to weather conditions).
Parking prohibited and street closed to traffic.
Local access maintained depending on the progress of the work.
Waste collection moved to Rue Nouvelle and Rue David d'Angers.
• Phase 3 – Redevelopment of Rue Nouvelle:
Start of work scheduled for January 2025 for a duration of 3 months.
Construction site organized in phases to limit disruptions.
Collection of waste at both ends of the section concerned.
Additional work: cycle security Rue de Rouen
• Change in the direction of traffic on Rue Gauthiot Lamy (new direction: Rue de Rouen towards Rue Grange Couronne).
• Passage of Rue Gauthiot Lamy in a 30 km/h zone with contraflow cycling.
• Repainting of parking spaces (+4 spaces) during the winter.
