A reserve in case of fire

The lack of fire protection in the hamlet of Le Mas is compensated by the installation of a 120 m 3 water reserve.

An assessment of the municipality's fire protection was carried out in 2021 with Lieutenant Jean-Marc Mialhe, from Sdis (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service).

Following this inventory, the municipality's hydrants (fire hydrants) were tested in flow and pressure and listed in the Sdis database to have the most efficient intervention possible. One point for improvement had been highlighted: the lack of fire protection in the hamlet of Mas, located between Queyrières and Monedeyres.

At the end of 2023, the municipal council voted unanimously for the establishment of a 120 m³ fire reserve, this project being approved by the Sdis and benefiting from 80% aid from the State, within the framework of the Green Fund.

The land for the installation on the edge of the RD 18 was purchased, the earthworks carried out by the TP company André Guilhot d'Araules, the wooden tank chosen. The tank, located on the path common to Saint-François-Régis and Santiago de Compostela, has a capacity of 120 m 3 the water network being nearby. The entire project was monitored and coordinated by Guillaume Michel, first deputy.
