This Sunday morning, an unexpected incident occurred in the Saint-Jean district of La Ciotat, when a construction site fence installed along avenue André Bellon suddenly fell onto the sidewalk, while vehicles were parked.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, although the incident almost turned into a tragedy. A mother and her two babies, who were walking on the sidewalk shortly before the fall, narrowly escaped the collapse of the installations.
The circumstances of the incident are still unclear. According to witnesses, the mesh fence, placed on concrete bases, came apart for an unknown reason. This Sunday morning, the west wind was blowing on La Ciotat at up to 50 km/h.
Residents want to understand how this fence, although supposed to be stable, could have come loose and represented a danger for pedestrians and vehicles.
