The president of the FIF, Idriss Diallo, reacted after Ivory Coast’s defeat against Zambia during the 5th day of the CAN 2025 qualifiers.
“Dear All,
It goes without saying that the result obtained today by our Elephants is very far from your legitimate expectations.
Indeed, this opposition was placed under a double objective:
- Wash away the affront suffered in June 2023 in this same Ndola stadium in front of this same Zambian team.
- Stay ahead of the group.
Unfortunately, we failed.
The immediate future requires us to concentrate on the match which will oppose us, next Tuesday 19th, to Chad, at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium.
Despite your legitimate frustration, I invite you to remember that we are qualified for CAN Morocco 2025.
Also, I invite you to come in large numbers to support our Elephants, who owe you a performance worthy of their status.
We will have the opportunity to celebrate this qualification together, which will allow us to defend our title in a year.
Once this meeting is over, we will make an internal assessment without complacency with the players, the technical and administrative staff in order to correct the dysfunctions and shortcomings on the one hand, and to optimally prepare for the next deadlines which are the playoffs of the 2026 World Cup, on the other hand.
Congratulations and thanks to all the supporters of our national team, who are always by our side for this qualification.
To God comes always and again the Glory »he indicated on Saturday November 16, 2024 on his Facebook page.
