Two murders tried at the Côtes-d’Armor assizes, the third trial canceled

The youngest, whose criminal record is clean, admits to having delivered the fatal blow and to having disposed of the bladed weapon in a trash can. In detention since the events, he will appear for murder before the Assize Court from Tuesday June 25 to Thursday June 27. Seven witnesses and two experts must be heard during the trial. The second young person is being prosecuted for complicity and will not be tried at the same time.

His body was discovered at his home on June 6, 2021. On the door, the seals indicate that a homicide occurred the previous night in this apartment in Rostrenen. The victim is a 60-year-old woman, discreet according to her neighbors. She died badly beaten. A 34-year-old man, who lives in the same neighborhood, was quickly arrested.

We learned the next day from the Saint-Brieuc prosecutor’s office that he had been indicted for the rape and murder of the victim and placed in pre-trial detention pending his trial for these two crimes. It will therefore be held three years later, from Friday June 28 to Tuesday July 2 before the Côtes-d’Armor Assize Court. Six witnesses and six experts will be heard at the bar.

The last file concerns a Carhaisian. Already tried by the Finistère Assize Court, in December 2023, and sentenced to 15 years of criminal imprisonment for violence having caused permanent disability to his partner who became quadriplegic due to being beaten. On April 4, 2021, the victim was taken care of by emergency services; she could no longer move her arms or legs.

The man admitted the beatings before the Finistère court. As for the sixty-year-old, still hospitalized in a follow-up care and rehabilitation service, she found the strength to come and testify at the stand, in a wheelchair. The accused, who was to be tried from Wednesday July 3 to Friday July 5 by the Côtes-d’Armor Assize Court, finally withdrew his appeal. The trial was therefore canceled and the 15-year prison sentence definitively validated.
