US President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday, November 16, chose Chris Wright, CEO of an oil services company, to be the next head of the Department of Energy.

Mr. Wright is CEO of Liberty Energy, a Denver-based company that provides hydraulic fracturing services to the oil and gas industry.
This prominent Republican fundraiser has previously questioned the link between climate change and extreme weather events. He has also actively supported policies in favor of the fossil fuel industry and energy independence.
In a post on Truth Social, Mr. Trump said that Mr. Wright would also join his administration as a member of the new National Energy Council, which “will oversee the path to U.S. energy dominance by cutting red tape, strengthening private sector investment in all sectors of the economy, and prioritizing innovation over old but completely unnecessary regulation“.
Earlier this week, Mr. Trump announced his intention to name North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum as Secretary of the Interior and chairman of the National Energy Council, a newly created role to orchestrate the government’s vast projects. aimed at repealing climate rules, removing clean energy subsidies and boosting oil and gas production across the country, according to an article in the Washington Post.
