A large Moroccan aid convoy left the port of Motril, in Andalusia, this Saturday morning, heading to Valencia. Made up of 13 trucks, including 12 pumpers and a repair vehicle, it also transports 34 Moroccan volunteers who came to lend a helping hand to the populations affected by the recent floods.
According to EFEthis is the second convoy sent by Morocco in a few days. Last Wednesday, a first contingent of 25 trucks and 70 professionals had already disembarked in Motril before heading to the disaster areas. The Moroccan teams will mainly focus on cleaning tasks, such as clearing public roads and unblocking pipes.

Arriving from the port of Tangier-Med aboard the ferry “Denia Ciutat Creativa”, the convoy was welcomed in Motril by a large force: law enforcement, Civil Protection and port police. The Moroccan consul in Granada and Almería, Soumia Fhati, and the director of the Port Authority, Vicente Tovar, supervised the operation.
José García Fuentes, president of the port of Motril, recalled the crucial role of port infrastructure in the event of a crisis. “They make it possible to provide a rapid and effective response to the needs of the population,” he declared.
