On the night of Friday November 15 to Saturday November 16, 2024, the tobacco-press-lottery-bookstore of Dangé-Saint-Romain, near Châtellerault, was completely destroyed in a fire which was obviously not accidental.

The burglars' car was thrown and found burned in the business

According to our information, these are the consequences of a burglary committed following a car-ramming attack on the business.

The tobacco shop, located at 72 avenue de l'Europe, in the middle of the town of Dangé, opposite the town hall, was targeted between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

The criminals on the run

The criminals did not hesitate to drive their vehicle into the business. A fire then broke out in the establishment which was destroyed, as was the accommodation located upstairs. The car used was found burned in the middle of the store.

The entire stock of tobacco presses burned.

Firefighters intervened to extinguish the flames before they spread to adjoining businesses (the Physalis florist and the Actuel Coiffure hair salon) which suffered minor damage.

On-site criminal identification

For its part, the Châtellerault gendarmerie company opened an investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators of this ramming followed by arson.

Residents in shock

The gendarmerie's white criminal identification van has been on site since this morning, with a technician in a white coat, to carry out various observations and samples, particularly on the charred vehicle at the tobacconist's.

On this Saturday morning, market day in Dangé, the inhabitants who were doing their shopping were busy, stunned, in front of this sinister ram breakage.
