After a telephone exchange with Donald Trump this Friday, Volodymyr Zelensky declared that the war in Ukraine “will end sooner”, without knowing the date. For his part, the American president had promised to resolve the conflict “in twenty-four hours”.
Thanks to Donald Trump, “the war will end sooner,” declared Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this Friday, November 15, after fruitful exchanges with the Republican who was just re-elected to the White House. However, Ukraine still fears a decline in support from Washington.
“It is certain that the war will end sooner with the policies of the team that will now run the White House. This is their approach, their promise to their society,” assured Volodymyr Zelensky during an interview with the Ukrainian media Suspilne.
“The war will end, but we do not know the exact date,” he however qualified. The head of state assured that he had a “constructive interaction” with Donald Trump during their telephone conversation after his victory in the American presidential election on November 5.
“Work very hard”
Donald Trump “heard the foundations we rely on. I have not heard anything that goes against our position,” he added.
Very critical of the tens of billions of dollars released for Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, the new American president had promised to resolve this conflict “in twenty-four hours”, without ever explaining how.
This Friday, he again insisted on “working very hard on Russia and Ukraine” because the war “must stop”. Ukraine fears a weakening of American support, at a time when its troops are in difficulty on the front, or that an agreement involving territorial concessions to Russia will be imposed on it.
