The worst was narrowly avoided on Saturday June 22, 2024 in the evening in Lyon. A TCL network bus with passengers on board caught fire on Boulevard des Belges in the 6th arrondissement around 7:20 p.m.
The fire on bus line 38 (Gare Part-Dieu Vivier Merle/Caluire Place de la Bascule) caused an immense plume of smoke above this district which borders the Tête d’or park, and visible in many points in the city.
Passengers and driver get out on time
The passengers of the TCL bus and the driver were able to get out in time, according to the Rhône firefighters, who numbered around twenty to bring the fire under control. There are no casualties. The vehicle was completely destroyed by flames, according to images visible on X.
Second bus fire in a few days
On Wednesday June 12, another bus from the TCL network (line 15E which connects Bellecour to the Vernaison center) also suddenly caught fire in Vernaison in the metropolis of Lyon. The driver and passengers were not injured.
In the case of the fire on the bus set on fire on Boulevard des Belges, the origin of the incident is not yet known.
