Faced with the rise in prices of complementary health insurance, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is launching its mutual

300,000 inhabitants of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes do not have complementary health insurance because it costs too much. Faced with this observation, the regional council has decided to launch its own mutual insurance company, with advantageous rates. “My regional mutual insurance company Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes” has been officially launched since mid-October, elected officials are now surveying the territory to make it known. Valérie Lassalle, regional advisor delegated to the mutual, came to present it this Friday at Péage-de-Roussillon, the poorest municipality in Isère – 28% of residents live below the poverty line.

The rates of the regional mutual are between 10 and 20% cheaper than those of a traditional mutual insurance company, assures Valérie Lassalle. To get there, the Region highlights its 8 million inhabitants and guarantees partner mutual societies a significant influx of new members thanks to this system. Five mutual societies worked on specifications with the regional council.

There are three possible levels of coverage: Essential / Comfort / Serenity. Even choosing the former guarantees greater coverage than the former. 100% healthy ensures the Region. Dental implants or fee overruns for example are supported. The two upper levels also offer a sports package as well as a wellness package, which notably contributes to the cost of transport and accommodation for spa treatments.

To subscribe, there is no health questionnaire or age limit or membership fees. The conditions are simple: you must live in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, have a social security number and not benefit from complementary solidarity health insurance. On the price side, the Region estimates, for example, that a 70-year-old retiree will save on average 325 euros per year with the level 3 offer. For this same offer, there is a saving of 200 euros over the year for a car. -40 year old entrepreneur. The regional mutual offers an offer dedicated to students aged 18 to 30, at 20 euros per month.

This operation costs nothing to the regional council, which is therefore responsible for negotiating prices and now liaises with residents. “It is becoming an increasingly expensive cost to seek treatment and we see that the cost of mutual insurance is soaring, particularly for retirees” comments Yannick Neuder, LR deputy for Isère and regional councilor. “We know that from the age of 70 we consume two to four times more care than between the ages of 18 and 65”. This mutual is “a real added value for people, it costs less and we are better taken care of.”
