Assistant clinical professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal and researcher at the Montreal Heart Institute (ICM), Dr.r Robert Avram was awarded the Linnemeier Young Investigator Award at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2024 conference.
This mark of recognition underlines the commitment of the Dr Avram to push the boundaries of cardiovascular science by developing and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in cardiology.
The Dr Avram is particularly recognized for his work in artificial intelligence applied to interventional cardiology, a subspecialty of cardiology where catheter-guided non-surgical procedures are performed to treat various heart diseases. His innovative research integrates digital technologies into clinical practice, particularly in the interpretation of coronary angiograms and electrocardiograms. These advances have not only opened up new perspectives in cardiovascular medicine, but they have also demonstrated the concrete effect of AI in optimizing care and treatments.
The professor-researcher first trained in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Montreal, before doing a postdoctoral fellowship in artificial intelligence at the University of California at San Francisco and Stanford University. His work aimed to design and test various digital tools – wearable devices, biosensors and mobile applications – as part of two large prospective studies in mobile health.
The TCT Congress is one of the largest global events in interventional cardiology, bringing together researchers, clinicians and specialists from around the world to share the latest advances in cardiovascular treatments and technologies.
