A fire broke out on Friday around noon in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht. One person was treated at the scene with burns to their hands. A resident of the building was also taken to hospital after feeling unwell.
A fire broke out in the kitchen of a pizzeria in Anderlecht this Friday late morning. “We were called around 11:40 a.m. for a fire that had broken out in a building on Place Bizet”said Walter Derieuw, spokesperson for the Brussels firefighters. Arriving on site, firefighters found that the fire had spread from the kitchen of a pizzeria, located on the ground floor of the building.
The flames spread through the hood before spreading upstairs. A person who was in the restaurant tried to put out the fire, but burned their hands. “Refusing to go to the hospital, she was treated there”said Walter Derieuw.
During the firefighter intervention, which ended around 2:30 p.m., a resident of the building also felt unwell. She was transferred to the hospital.
The restaurant is unusable, while the first floor apartment is uninhabitable. The cause of the fire was accidental.
