The Belgian and Romanian players enter the pitch at the Cologne stadium. The anthems of both teams will soon sound. Only a few minutes left before kick-off!

For this new competition, Belgium must deal with a rejuvenated group, without several of its former executives, such as Hazard or Alderweireld. Thibaut Courtois is also not present in the Belgian group.

The match will kick off at 9 p.m. in Cologne. The match will be refereed by the experienced Pole Szymon Marciniak.

Belgium no longer has the right to make mistakes. Initially defeated against Slovakia (0-1) on Monday, it currently has no points in the standings. A victory is therefore imperative to hope to qualify for the round of 16.

Romania, for its part, got off to a perfect start to its tournament: it won easily (3-0) against Ukraine on the first day. A draw would already be a good result for Nicolae Stanciu’s teammates. With 4 points, the Romanians would already be perfectly on their way to the round of 16.

On the Romanian side, coach Edi Iordanescu renews almost the same team as the one which easily won Monday (3-0) against Ukraine. The scorers Stanciu, Razvan Marin and Dragus are there. The only change compared to this victory: the tenure on the left wing of Parma player Valentin Mihaila to the detriment of Florinel Coman.

The composition of Romania: Nita – Bancu, Burca, Dragusin, Ratiu – M. Marin – Mihaila, N. Stanciu, R. Marin, Man – Dragus.

The composition of Belgium has just fallen. Coach Domenico Tedesco made several changes compared to the defeat against Slovakia on Monday (0-1). Dodi Lukebakio takes the place of Leandro Trossard, who started on the left wing during the previous match. Amadou Onana starts in midfield. Veteran Jan Vertonghen returns to central defense.

The composition of Belgium: Casteels – Castagne, Vertonghen, W. Faes, Theate – Tielemans, A. Onana, De Bruyne (c) – Lukebakio, Lukaku, Doku.

Good evening everyone and welcome to this live dedicated to the second day of the group stage between Belgium and Romania (group E).

Will Belgium be the first big team eliminated from the Euro? Surprised from the start by Slovakia (1-0), for the first day of group E, the Red Devils are on the brink of collapse. To give themselves a chance of qualifying for the round of 16 of the Euro, they almost have no choice: they must win this Saturday against Romania (9 p.m.).

The Belgians want to “go all out”

It won’t be easy, because the Romanians can play without inhibitions. On June 17, they largely won against Ukraine (3-0), and are at the top of group E. In the event of another success against Belgium, Edward Iordănescu’s men would already validate their place for the round of 16, and would (almost) send the Red Devils back on the plane to Brussels.

The fact remains that 18 months after a World Cup in Qatar and an elimination in the group stage to forget, the Belgians obviously want to avoid further disillusionment. “You have to keep your head high and go all out”insisted striker Loïs Openda after the match against Slovakia.

Coach Domenico Tedesco, who had not lost a single match on the Belgian bench so far, seemed rather optimistic. “The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the missed chances because we had a lot of them and big ones”he emphasized. “From what I have seen or felt, it seems very, very positive to me.” All that remains is to prove it this Saturday on the pitch in Cologne.
