The Algerian documentary film “T’bal” (Drum), by director Salem Dahmani, from the wilaya of Adrar, won the “Silver” prize at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa-ITFFA ), held from June 11 to 15 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Salem Dahmani, who expressed his joy at having won this prize so dreamed of since his beginnings in audio-visual, admitted devoting his efforts to the promotion of the rich intangible and material national heritage, including the cultural legacy “T’bal”, very widespread in the far south of the country, in Adrar in particular.

According to the director: “this work crowns long-term efforts in audiovisual production, photographs and documentaries, highlighting the local secular cultural legacy also through meetings and interviews with old and young people gifted in this artistic genre, including El-Hadj Mohamed Aboudi and the young talent Abdelmalek Harzaoui.

This work tends, he explained, to elucidate the socio-cultural dimension of the T’bal, an instrument, among many others, omnipresent in cultural and popular events and an essential element for any rhythmic poetic cadence singing the daily life of the region. .

Having already won other national prizes, including that of best documentary film at the National Cinema Festival-Toua d’Adrar, in addition to another prize won at the National Heritage Film Days held in 2021 in the wilaya of Oum-El-Bouaghi, the work “Tambour” retraces scenes from the various tourist sites of the wilaya, the old buildings, the oases, sand dunes, the traditional outfits, the habits and customs which must contribute to the promotion of the national tourist destination, concluded Mr. Dahmani.
