An overnight Russian air attack killed at least one person in southern Ukraine, Ukrainian emergency services announced Friday, November 15.
Odessa under the bombs. A Russian air attack, described as «massive» by Ukrainian emergency services, caused at least one victim during the night from Thursday to Friday, November 15, in the large coastal city. “Odessa once again suffered a massive enemy attack […] According to preliminary data, one person died” and 10 others were injured, including two children, emergency services said on Telegram. The person in question is “a 35-year-old woman who was sleeping near a window”according to a publication by the mayor of this important Black Sea port, Gennadiï Trukhanov, on the same social network.
During this Russian attack, 'an apartment building in the center of’Odessa was destroyed, apartments caught fire, towers and around thirty vehicles were damaged”according to the regional governor, Oleg Kiper. Photos released by emergency services show rescuers trying to put out a fire in a three-story building and caring for an elderly woman.
Six Russian bombers fly towards Ukraine
Furthermore, shortly before 6 a.m. local time (5 a.m. French time) this Friday, November 15, the Ukrainian air force warned that six Russian bombers were flying in the direction of the South-East from the Olenia base, in the northwest Russia. Russian forces have recently stepped up attacks in southern Ukraine, including targeting civilian ships in Odessa ports.
For its part, Kyiv has targeted its attacks against military and energy sites in regions controlled by Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced this morning on Telegram that it had shot down, thanks to its army, 51 Ukrainian drones, including 36 in the Krasnodar region alone, in the South-West. The governor of this territory, Veniamine Kondratiev, reported no casualties during this attack.
For months, Ukrainian authorities have been asking their Western allies to provide them with more air defense systems to repel Russian attacks. The head of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, for his part urged Kyiv's Western allies to begin negotiations with Moscow if they want to put an end to the attacks against Ukrainians.
