“I didn't even have to go to Chelsea. I let myself be convinced (by his manager, Editor's note)”, explained the person concerned, finally recruited permanently by the Blues. “I knew I wasn't going to play as much as I wanted at Manchester City. When you don't play, it's boring.”

“I remember training on a Wednesday afternoon at City and hearing that they were trying to agree on the amount of compensation,” said Palmer, reflecting on the exchanges between the Skyblues and Chelsea. “Every time the ball went out, I asked someone if they had agreed on the amount of compensation.”

If the agreement was reached, Cole Palmer had to leave in a bit of a hurry. “So I didn't really have the opportunity to see many people and tell them that I was going to leave,” regretted the Englishman a little. “I just had to pack my things. It's the commercial reality of top-level football: no goodbyes, except what you can say by text. I sent a message in the chat group, where I 'said: 'Thank you' and all the rest, 'I'm leaving.' That's all.”
