Marie-Pierre Arfel and Françoise Boutteaux, both retired, disappeared on June 12 in Sinikos, Greece, after going hiking. Their relatives do not want to rule out any leads.

Marie-Pierre Arfel, 64, and Françoise Boutteaux, 73, two French tourists who were staying in Sikinos in Greece, have disappeared since Wednesday June 12 while they went hiking. While parallel investigations are being carried out in Greece and France, Le Figaro takes stock of what we know about this mysterious disappearance, and the many gray areas that still surround it.

In parallel with the investigations carried out by local authorities in Greece, two other investigations have been opened in France. The Draguignan public prosecutor’s office is affiliated with the case of Marie-Pierre who is originally from Gassin (Var). On Françoise Boutteaux’s side, it is the Reims public prosecutor’s office which is in charge of the case. “We have opened an investigation into the causes of a disappearance,” indicates Pierre Couttenier, the prosecutor of the Draguignan court. “It is a ‘mirror’ investigation of the investigations carried out by the competent authorities in Greece.
