The fire that occurred Thursday morning in the city center is no longer considered suspicious.

The investigation carried out this morning confirmed that the fire started in a mattress.

Even though the fire was quickly brought under control, two tenants were unable to return home. They were entrusted to the care of the Red Cross.

The others have already returned to their accommodation at the beginning of the afternoon.

Remember that a 36-year-old woman was arrested for obstructing the work of police officers.

Sherbrooke firefighters once again responded to a fire considered suspicious in the city center.

Around 6:10 a.m. Thursday morning, emergency services were called to 835 rue Saint-Pierre for a fire in an apartment.

The fire department was able to quickly control the fire and limit the damage.

On the second floor

The fire broke out in the bedroom of an apartment located on the second floor, indicates Lee Hansford, head of the intervention division of the Fire Protection Department of the City of Sherbrooke.

A second alarm was triggered as a preventative measure.

As a reminder, numerous suspicious or arson fires have taken place in Sherbrooke in recent weeks.
