the public came in large numbers to see the flame

It is not common to see so much activity in Mayet-de-Montagne on a Friday morning. The rain did not stop the courageous spectators who came to see the Olympic flame pass on June 21.

“We won’t see her pass by our house every day!”, we can hear in the central street of the village. Certainly, the crossing causes inconvenience in terms of traffic. But OK. The event remains exceptional. The children from the schools, the elders from the retirement home, the local residents are there.

Spectators were not afraid to brave the rain to witness the passing of the Olympic flame in Mayet-de-Montagne

Despite the gray weather, everyone lets themselves be carried away by the atmosphere. “The flame, the flame”, chant the youngest who begin joyful “Ola”.

Josiane traveled from Clermont-Ferrand to see the flame pass. She is not disappointed. She will even follow her to Vichy where we are expecting her this evening, passing through Saint-Yorre, Saint-Germain-des-Fossés and Cusset. Good road !!
