Equatorial Guinea secured its place for CAN 2025 without having to kick a ball, thanks to Togo’s defeat against Liberia on Wednesday in the penultimate qualifying match of Group E.
With Togo’s defeat, Equatorial Guinea is assured of a top-two finish in Group E, meaning they will participate in next year’s tournament regardless of the results of the final two matches.
This Thursday, Equatorial Guinea faces Algeria at the Malabo stadium, the Fennecs having already qualified for the CAN. Both teams will therefore be keen to achieve a good performance, but they will approach the match without any pressure.
This match also marks a notable rivalry. The last time the two teams met, Algeria won 2-0. But with home advantage and morale high, Equatorial Guinea is ready to win this time and take their revenge.
Equatorial Guinea becomes the ninth team to qualify for CAN 2025, joining the list of nations that will go to Morocco.
The match will be played at the Malabo Stadium, located in the city of Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, at 13:00 GMT. Canal Sport and Bein Sport 1 will broadcast it live. The Algerian channel DZ6 could also broadcast the meeting.
