The city of Talence has always been keen to deploy a cultural policy accessible to all. It is with this approach that the Talence Aquitaine Arts Society (Sata), under the presidency of Jean Del Ben, has organized for several decades an annual grand prize for painting and sculpture. For its 2024 edition, it has placed its easels in the sumptuous setting of the Château de Thouars.
The opening of this new exhibition took place on the evening of Thursday, November 7, once again showcasing works by already recognized painters and sculptors, alongside local talents and even those from elsewhere, sometimes even from the other side of our borders. Beyond a simple competition, this event embodies the creativity and passion that inspired all these artists, witnesses of an era and transmitters of our heritage.
City Grand Prix
Thus, more than 160 works were initially proposed, highlighting a great artistic and technical diversity, before a draconian selection by a jury, composed mainly of professionals and arts experts, retained only a small number. number. The paintings and sculptures being of a particularly high standard, the task of deciding between the artists was not an easy task. Their choice was therefore essentially guided by rigor, audacity and sensitivity.
Among the numerous prizes, diplomas and medals awarded to the winners, we will note in the list the four “Grand prix de la ville de Talence”, rewarding in gold the works of Florence Rouchou (Léognan) and Valérie Germain (Cadillac-en- Fronsadais), silver those of Claude Petitjean (Cestas) and Michel Coutzac (Talence), as well as bronze the achievements of Jean-François Déridet (Beauronne) and Marie-Hélène Lacoste (Gradignan).
All these paintings and sculptures will be visible free of charge at the Château de Thouars, chemin des Maures in Talence, until Friday November 15, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
