Following the announcement of the dissolution of the National Assembly by the President of the Republic on Sunday June 9, 2024, early legislative elections will take place on June 30 and July 7. They will make it possible to elect 577 deputies for a renewable period of five years. Among them, 27 deputies will represent the different overseas communities and departments, such as Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Réunion, Mayotte, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Wallis and Futuna, Saint-Pierre- and Miquelon, as well as Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin.

The second digital debate of the Portail de la 1ere dedicated to the Legislative campaign will take place this Thursday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. (Paris time).

Two experts will interact with the journalist presenter Serge Massau: Fred Constant, university professor, former diplomat and political scientist, and Christiane Rafidinarivo, political scientist and associate researcher at CEVIPOF Sciences Po.

This thirty-minute debate will focus on the expectations of overseas residents in this legislative election campaign, an unprecedented political sequence in such a context.
