The infamous American killer said in a phone call that he was “involved in a few murders” before becoming the guru of a murderous cult in the late 1960s.
He was already convicted of numerous murders. As reported by the British daily The Guardian this Thursday, November 14, Charles Manson, the American guru and murderer, himself allegedly confessed to being behind several murders.
The latter has already sadly gone down in history for the series of murders he initiated at the end of the 1960s, when he was at the head of the sect called the “Manson Family”, including that of Sharon Tate. .
According to The Guardian, during a phone call made during his incarceration, he confessed to being at the origin of several other deaths, even before the creation of this sect.
These confessions were immortalized in a recording which is broadcast in a docuseries called Making Manson, produced by the Peacock platform. “There is a whole part of my life that no one knows,” he begins.
“I lived in Mexico for a while. I went to Acapulco, I stole cars. I got involved in things that were beyond my control, man. I was involved in a few murders. I “I left my .357 Magnum in Mexico and I left dead bodies on the beach,” adds Charles Manson, without giving further details.
This docuseries traces the life of the murderer before the creation of the sect. In it, former disciples and relatives of Manson testify and react to the various audio recordings.
Commuted death sentence
Charles Manson died in 2017 at the age of 83, in prison. For his involvement in several murders, he was sentenced to death by the American justice system, a sentence ultimately commuted to life in prison. At the time of his disappearance, he had spent 40 years behind bars.
At the end of 2014, Manson filed a request for authorization to marry a 26-year-old woman, Afton Elaine Burton, without following up. He had previously filed yet another request for early release in 2012, which was refused.
In mid-2023, one of his former disciples, Leslie Van Houten, was released from prison after spending more than 50 years behind bars for a double murder committed in 1969.
