“Positive signals”
If it is definitely time for celebration, the budget cuts included in the 2025 Finance Bill are cause for concern. Since the announcement of the nearly 35% reduction in the FSER, the Radio Expression Support Fund, “a real pillar of the economic model of community radio”community radio stations are stepping up to the plate to try to influence the government's position.
Sufficient ? Time will tell. In the meantime, the fight against this project which, according to the unions, would endanger more than 800 jobs in France, is being organized. “Numerous amendments have been tabled against this measure, one of which has already been approved in the National Assembly. In addition, Laurent Saint-Martin, Minister responsible for the Budget and Public Accounts, affirmed the importance of the FSER for the existence of local community radio stations and announced that the government was committed to maintaining FSER credits at the level of those allocated in 2024, thus responding to the concerns expressed by the non-commercial radio sector.indicates Radio Larzac. These are positive signals.” To be continued.
