Due to an increasingly constrained budgetary situation, the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne has initiated a process of in-depth control of its expenses, but will nevertheless continue to support numerous actors and projects in the region. During the last standing committee, subsidies were voted on on the proposal of Roselyne Artigues and Patrice Rival, departmental councilors in the canton of Bagnères-de-Luchon. Believing that the associative network remains essential to the life of the territory, the Department has decided to support 24 associations which, through culture, sport and popular education, work every day for the common good. Just as aid has been allocated for the benefit of farmers who also play an important role. “More than 45 grants have made it possible to support our towns and villages in their projects for tomorrow,” underline the elected officials, specifying that these grants will be used in particular for the restoration of the Auzas church, the repair of the roof of the covered area of Bruncan in Sauveterre-de-Comminges, the creation of a covered passage in order to secure pedestrian access to the town hall and the rural center of Mane or the revegetation of the public square of Antichan-de-Frontignes.

Finally, a new school catering aid payment was voted for all of the canton’s colleges: Saint-Béat-Lez, Aspet, Bagnères-de-Luchon and Salies-du-Salat. Real support for the purchasing power of families, this aid allows many students to benefit from total or partial free canteen service.
